Revive Punjab's Flood-Ravaged Farms: Document the Recovery in Gurdaspur & Fazilka

In August–September 2025, Punjab, India suffered its worst floods in nearly four decades. Around 1,400 villages across 13+ districts were inundated, 3.54 million residents were affected, and more than 2.5 lakh acres of farmland were destroyed. In Gurdaspur district alone, roughly 60,000 hectares of agricultural land were submerged under 1–3 feet of sand and silt; in the hardest-hit blocks of Dera Baba Nanak and Fatehgarh Churian, over 90% of cultivated area was damaged, wiping out kharif (summer) crops and threatening the coming rabi (wheat) sowing season. The real crisis now is post-flood agricultural recovery. Organizations like Khalsa Aid (which has dewatered 1,055+ acres and restored 1,727+ acres in Fazilka and Gurdaspur) and Global Sikhs' 'Saanjha Sahara' program (supplying tractors, rotavators, laser levelers, and diesel to marginal farmers for up to six months) are on the ground — but resources are stretched. Farmers need diesel for machinery, NPK/DAP fertilizer to restore depleted soil, and seeds for the wheat season. This 30-day mission asks community members across Punjab's flood-affected districts — especially Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, and Amritsar — to film the recovery in progress: silted fields being cleared, volunteer tractor brigades at work, and families returning to their land. Funds raised go directly to Khalsa Aid's Punjab Floods 2025 agricultural recovery fund to purchase diesel, fertilizer bags, and wheat seeds for small and marginal farmers who lost everything.
